Up on Long Hill, we had the Secret Service on watch!

In the December, 2010 issue of the Sturbridge Times Magazine, we looked at the security mania regarding government officials and suggested a new way of looking at it.  If our suggestions had been followed there would have been no scandal.  Below is the article.

Friday the 13th is your lucky day at Old Sturbridge Village

This just in from Old Sturbridge Village,

Old Sturbridge Village is pleased to roll back its admission prices to just $5 for visitors who arrive before 12:00 noon. It's our way of saying "thank you" to the many visitors who have supported the museum through the years.

The special one-day $5 price applies to adults, seniors and youth ages 3-17 (children 2 and under are free).

"Thanks to mild weather so far in 2012 and loyal community support, OSV is posting one of its best attendance starts in a decade," notes OSV President and CEO Jim Donahue. "Offering a $5 Friday admission on April 13 is one way we can give back to the community, help to offset today's high gas prices, and make the Village more accessible for families on a budget."

Does not apply to educational groups of 10 or more.
Cannot be combined with other discounts.
Second admission within ten days not available.

Sturbridge Times Magazine is out, Shameless Self-Promotion-April edition

Spring has sprung and the April issue of the Sturbridge Times Magazine is out. I have a few offerings to tout.

On Page 14 is a profile of Landscape Professional extraordinaire, Calvin Montigny. You have probably seen his work, but don’t know it’s his.

West Brookfield has as long a history as any town in the region. Gee, how long is that? Several millennia. the last ice age cut through and left a structure of stone that was a home to indigenous tribes. See the Rock Hous exhibit at the West Brookfield article and read about it on Page 16.

Neither the current ruler of Syria or his dad could ever say, “No more Mr. Nice Guy.” That’s the way it is in the Middle East. We need to stay out of it. My column is on Page 24.

There are many other writers at the Sturbridge times Magazine and they are well worth reading. It is available at newstands around the area or is downloadable as a pdf at http://sturbridgetimes.com/.
